« Make a donation, the most beautiful way to commemorate a loved one »

Losing a parent or loved one is an extremely painful experience.

We all have to find our own path in order to come to terms with the loss and be able to move forward, be it alone or with the support of those around us. A beautiful way to pay tribute to a loved one and to look to the future may be to associate the memory of the deceased with an act of solidarity.

In the death notice and obituary, you can request that flowers and wreaths be replaced by a donation to the Luxembourg Red Cross. Through this, you can offer those who share your grief a way to ease their suffering through helping the most vulnerable, both in Luxembourg and abroad.

For the Luxembourg Red Cross, every cent counts. Your donations enable us to help those in need. They ensure that we can respond to the needs of society and make a difference.

By inviting people who wish to pay their condolences to make a donation, your gesture is more than merely symbolic. Your donations make our work possible, in Luxembourg and abroad, helping the sick, the destitute, the elderly or children.

Acting for the most vulnerable

From supporting families in times of crisis to welcoming migrants and refugees, accompanying parents who have lost a child, providing holiday stays for young people and supervised housing for young adults struggling to integrate, offering food shopping at our ‘Red Cross Butteker’ and social assistance at our ‘Offices Sociaux’ or even providing shelter for the homeless, we work on a daily basis to come to the aid of children, young people, families and people in precarious situations or social distress.

The Luxembourg Red Cross is recognised as being of public utility under the law of 16 August 1923 and as such may receive cash donations which are tax deductible by donors as special expenses within the limits set by art. 109, paragraph 1 no. 3 of the Luxembourgish Income Tax Act.

If the sums collected exceed the needs of the project or if operational constraints prevent its continuation, the Red Cross will use the funds for programmes of a similar nature in accordance with its statutory purpose.

Acting for the sick or elderly

Day in, day out, we are committed to improving the lives of sick, dependent and isolated people: providing help and care at home, cancer rehabilitation, a home for the elderly, support for people with AIDS, ambulance service, first aid courses or blood collection to treat people with cancer or other serious illnesses and accident victims.

Humanitarian aid

For many years, we have been working around the world alongside the 191 other Red Cross and Red Crescent National Societies to help rebuild countries affected by humanitarian disasters.
