The ‘Law in War’ visitor tour was inaugurated on 30 June at the National Museum of Military History (MNHM) in Diekirch. It will also be open to the public as from 1 July .
The inauguration of the ‘Law in War’ trail in the form of a guided tour took place on 30 June at 6.30 p.m. at the National Museum of Military History in Diekirch. It was led by Louise Debugne, International Humanitarian Law Officer for the Luxembourg Red Cross, Ben Ferring, historian of the MNHM and Frank Rockenbrod, President of the Asbl MNHM.
” Law in War is the latest activity of the Luxembourg Red Cross to raise awareness of international humanitarian law and its underlying values. Law in War’ introduces visitors to the key principles of the law of war. It invites visitors to become aware of the importance of respecting it to guarantee human dignity in times of war,” explains Louise Debugne.
The permanent exhibition of the National Museum of Military History illustrates the experience of the Second World War in Luxembourg. The Humanitarian Aid of the Luxembourg Red Cross and the MNHM have set up this tour alongside the permanent exhibition. It introduces the key principles and concepts of international humanitarian law and emphasises their importance today.
“The National Museum of Military History is known for its diverse approaches to the Second World War and to Luxembourg military history. The focus on international humanitarian law offers the visitor an additional perspective that has not been considered in Luxembourg until now,” continues Frank Rockenbrod.
The ‘Law in War’ tour is now available to the public and has been since 1 July 2022. It is presented in the form of an audio guide via the IziTravel platform, on site and/or remotely. English, Luxembourgish, and French versions are available.
