You are a donor to the Luxembourgish Red Cross

The Luxembourg Red Cross thanks you for your generous gesture in support of its activities. In the context of your donation you have given us some of your personal data. Protecting your personal data is important to us, which is why we consider it important to inform you about the use that the Luxembourg Red Cross makes of it and the rights you have.

Why do we process your data?

The Luxembourg Red Cross, in its capacity as data controller, processes your data in the context of canvassing, collecting and administering donations as well as managing donors’ wishes.

Following receipt of a donation, we send a thank-you letter, which also serves as a tax certificate, to the donor. In addition, we periodically inform our donors of our actions and occasionally invite them to continue to support our projects. Your support is vital for us to be able to fulfil our missions in favour of vulnerable people.

On what basis do we process your data?

Your personal data is processed on the basis of the execution of the donation contract, our legal obligation to send you your tax certificate and our legitimate interest in sending our newsletters.

However, if you no longer wish to receive from the Luxembourg Red Cross information and/or invitations to make donations by name, we will respect this upon request. To do so, all you have to do is notify us of your unsubscription by telephone on 2755 or by e-mail at info@croix-rouge.lu. To unsubscribe from our electronic newsletters, you can use the unsubscribe link included in each newsletter at any time.

What kind of data do we collect?

In accordance with the law, the Luxembourg Red Cross only collects the data necessary to carry out its missions: your first name, surname, address, e-mail address, bank details in the case of a transfer and the amount of the donation.
Your data is kept for the time necessary to achieve the objectives set out above and at most for the period provided for by the law (10 years).

To whom do we communicate your data?

In accordance with the commitments made within the framework of the “Donation en Confiance” label to which the Luxembourg Red Cross adheres, we will not pass on your details to other charitable organisations or companies that would like to approach you. You will therefore not be contacted by a third party organisation following your donation to the Luxembourg Red Cross.
The Luxembourg Red Cross treats your data confidentially and shares it with third parties only when technically necessary or in accordance with the law. These third parties may include sub-contractors, our IT service providers or the competent administrations and authorities. Your data is stored in the European Union.
When you have made a donation in response to an appeal from other people or organisations (for example in memory of a deceased person or on the occasion of a birthday), they may receive information about your donation so that they can thank you.

What are your rights?

In accordance with the law, you have the following rights:

  • The right to information. For any further information in addition to what is stated in these lines, please contact our data protection officer.
  • The right to access your data. You can access your data by contacting our data protection officer.
  • The right to rectify your data if it is incorrect or out of date.
  • The right to lodge a complaint with the “Commission nationale pour la protection des données” (CNPD) if you consider that the processing of your data does not comply with the law.

  • The right to request the limitation of the processing of your data.
  • The right to object to the processing of your data on legitimate grounds.
