The Red Cross psychological mobile service PsyUp was established in November 2021 with the aim of preventing the negative effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on young people.
Restrictions in formal and non-formal education, as well as in their social life had indeed a significant impact on their mental health and well-being.
PsyUp is supported by the Ministry of National Education, Children and Youth.
The main objective of PsyUp is the prevention of psychosocial risks among young people. We base our psychological and preventive work on the strengthening of individual resources. This allows the preservation, and even the improvement, of the mental health and the quality of life of the young people we help.
Reaching out for a specialized psychotherapeutic support might be difficult. For this reason, our PsyUp service allows young people to have regular psychological follow-up in a known and confidential setting, knowing that any collaboration is free and on a voluntary basis.
If necessary, the PsyUp team directs the young person to a more specialized external service.
Beyond individual support, the PsyUp service offers group interviews as well as workshops on mental health. It can also be the point of contact for educational staff.
Our mobile psychologists are present in structures welcoming young people on a regular basis. They accompany young people in psychosocial distress through individual interviews in all regions of Luxembourg.
They are regularly present in the Youth Centers of the Luxembourg Red Cross, and in other structures hosting young people.
