NOVA Programme: a support programme for employment and training

Finding a path into employment can be a real challenge for beneficiaries of international protection (BIPs). They need to understand the Luxembourg labour market, identify their skills, develop their career plans and prepare to enter the workplace.

The Parcours BPI service offers NOVA Programme, a three-month support programme that complements existing initiatives and helps beneficiaries develop the skills and knowledge they need to improve their prospects of entering the labour market.

Our service is intended for beneficiaries of international protection (BIPs)* who are far removed from entering the primary labour market. Participants are identified and referred to the programme by ONIS. It is therefore not possible to register directly or to be referred through another professional.

Our programme provides an initial stage of support before participants are referred to the employment integration services offered by the Regional Social Inclusion Agents (ARIS).
The aim is to enable each participant to:

  • Develop their independence in Luxembourg;
  • Improve their professional French;
  • Acquire the key skills sought by employers;
  • Develop a realistic career plan;
  • Prepare to enter vocational training or employment.

Three pillars for building your future

To provide participants with first-hand insight into the Luxembourg labour market, the programme also includes approximately 60 hours of workplace immersion, through work placements, job-shadowing days or company visits.

This experience enables participants to gain a better understanding of employers’ expectations, explore different professions and further develop their professional plans.

The programme runs for 12 weeks, with 24 hours of training per week. Attendance is mandatory throughout the entire programme. Participants attend eight 3-hour sessions each week.

The training is based on an interactive and participatory approach, combining:

  • practical workshops;
  • role-plays and real-life scenarios;
  • educational games;
  • field visits;
  • discussions with professionals;
  • testimonials from former participants.

“These three months allowed me to gain new knowledge, develop my skills and benefit from a rewarding experience.”

— Mustafa, NOVA Course participant
