On 11 September 2020, ICBC donated two sterilizers to the Luxembourg Red Cross. This donation contributes to making group activities possible again for the residents of the CIPA Junglinster, after months of lockdown.
As children go back to school in Luxembourg, happy to be reunited with their friends, senior residents of the Luxembourg CIPAs (residential centres for the elderly) are longing for activities with their peers too. However, sharing moments with loved ones can be very risky in pandemic times, as highly contagious coronavirus continues to spread.
“Seniors with a fragile health are particularly at risk of becoming sick with Covid-19”, explains Michel Simonis, Director General, Luxemburg Red Cross. “Hence, we have to take special measures to avoid infections. The two new air sterilizers, donated today by ICBC, will help us resume leisure activities for the elderly in our residential centre“. He thanked warmly Mr. Fei Chen, General Manager, ICBC Luxembourg, for the donation, as well as the Luxembourg Embassy in China, the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the logistics cell of the Luxembourg Ministry for Health. They all made this donation possible.
Installed in the activity room of the CIPA Junglinster, these two plasma air sterilizers will increase the well-being of the residents, by allowing them to enjoy safe moments together and to get back a little bit of “normal” life. By purifying the air, they make indoor meetings possible again. As we approach winter and inevitably spend more time inside, it is more important than ever to ensure that indoor spaces are safe. In addition to the donation of air purifiers, the employees of ICBC and their families collected 2362,05 € for the CIPA Junglinster.
