Declaration of Human Rights: a fight for all

10 December 2024

For the past 12 months, we have been running a series of articles on Human Rights: while everyone talks about them, few of us really know what they are and what they stand for.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights is an essential founding document in the fight for human rights. The newly created United Nations adopted it in 1948. This text is a major step forward, as it sets out the fundamental rights of every individual, regardless of race, sex, religion or other criteria. Its adoption is intended to protect every human being from tyranny and oppression.

The Declaration is an important tool in the organization of the contemporary world and serves, in a way, as a global roadmap for freedom and equality. It is a constant reminder of the importance of protecting human rights and promoting human dignity. It is an essential tool not only for governments, but also for civil society organizations and individuals seeking to promote human rights and protect people against abuses of power.
