Summer heatwaves represent a major health risk, particularly affecting vulnerable people such as the elderly or those suffering from chronic illnesses. In response to the current period of high temperatures, the French Ministry of Health has introduced the Heatwave Plan, an initiative designed to protect at-risk populations in the event of extreme heat.
The Heatwave Plan aims to support elderly, vulnerable and isolated people through surveillance visits and help with hydration, in collaboration with the Red Cross and Copas. These visits are triggered when temperatures reach high levels. Anyone aged over 75, living alone in Luxembourg or with limited autonomy, and not receiving any support from the dependency insurance scheme, can sign up to the Heatwave Plan. Simply contact the Red Cross telephone centre on 27 55.
