Covid-19: Maisons Relais and nurseries open for the children of carers

30 December 2020

While the first vaccines against Covid-19 have arrived in Luxembourg and bring hope in the fight against the pandemic, the number of contaminations remains high.

In order to further reduce the contamination rate within the population, the government has taken additional measures, such as the suspension of classes and activities under the National Education system from 28 December 2020 to 10 January 2021.

Following these announcements, the Luxembourg Red Cross and other approved partners have set up nine emergency childcare facilities to provide support for the children of staff in the health and child and family care sectors, until 10 January 2021 at least.

A Maison Relais (day care centre) and a nursery of the Luxembourg Red Cross will be taking care of children aged between 3 months and 12 years of the staff concerned from 5.30 a.m. to 10.30 p.m. in the municipality of Strassen.
