Opening of the National Center for Victims of Violence

28 April 2025

The Luxembourg Red Cross announces the opening of the National Center for Victims of Violence (CNVV) – a safe and welcoming place for anyone facing violence, regardless of their age.

The CNVV premises were inaugurated today, in the presence of Yuriko Backes, Minister for Gender Equality and Diversity, who actively supports this fundamental project for the protection of victims and the fight against all forms of violence. During the event, several key figures took the floor to highlight the importance of this initiative: Claude Meisch, Minister of Education, Children and Youth, Martine Deprez, Minister of Health and Social Security, Elisabeth Margue, Minister of Justice and Kristin Schmit, Central Criminal Investigation Director. Together, they reaffirmed their commitment to supporting this essential project for the safety of all victims of violence.

The CNVV offers emergency, specialised, and confidential outpatient support for victims of physical, sexual, psychological or other forms of violence. A multidisciplinary team is available to listen, guide, and support you.

What to do if you are a victim or witness of violence?

As a witness, your support can make a difference: encourage the victim to seek help or contact specialised services to report the situation confidentially.
