The Luxembourg Red Cross continues to fulfil its mission for the benefit of the most vulnerable

20 March 2020

Since the emerging of Covid-19, the Luxembourg Red Cross has been following the situation closely. The services that are in contact with the most vulnerable and those people most affected by the infection are in the process of organising themselves in such a way as to be able to respond effectively to the situation and to subsequent developments.

The Luxembourg Red Cross would like to remind you of the competent authorities’ recommendations in connection with the Covid-19 epidemic. To find out about what measures you should take, we recommend that you visit the relevant government website.

You should take the same measures as for any other respiratory infection:

  • Wash your hands regularly and correctly (see online instructions).
  • Cough or sneeze into a handkerchief or in the crook of your elbow. Dispose of the handkerchief in a rubbish bin with a lid.
  • Avoid shaking hands or giving kisses.
  • Avoid close contact with sick people (keep a distance of at least 2 metres).
  • Stay at home when you are ill. Do not go to work!
  • Avoid touching your face with your hands as much as possible.

For further information, please call the HOTLINE: 8002 8080.

In view of our responsibility towards those in need of help, and in particular towards those with debilitating health conditions, but also towards our volunteers and staff, we have decided to set up a prevention system as a precaution, which will allow us to limit contacts between staff as much as possible and thus the risk of spreading the virus. Those workers that can are now working remotely. The aim of this temporary reorganisation is to continue to perform our tasks as well as possible, including support services.
