Let’s not forget them

Mali, Burkina Faso, Nepal,…

Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, an incredible outpouring of generosity has enabled us to act quickly and as closely as possible to the people affected by the conflict. We remain mobilized to meet the immense needs, whether in Ukraine or with refugees here in Luxembourg. The Luxembourg Red Cross is also involved in other countries such as Mali, Burkina Faso or Nepal, to help people whose living conditions are made difficult by climate crises, armed conflicts and violence.

Panzi, Democratic Republic of the Congo

Providing safe and dignified housing for survivors of sexual violence.

In Panzi, Democratic Republic of Congo, the Luxembourg Red Cross is building houses for victims of sexual violence. For these women and children traumatised by the violence, the house is a refuge where they can feel safe. We also provide them with seeds and livestock so that they can feed themselves and be self-sufficient. Finding a home and being able to care for one’s family in dignified conditions are important steps in the healing process.

100 houses

already built by the Luxembourg Red Cross.

+ 100 other houses

are currently in the works.

We need your donation to continue providing a home for survivors of sexual violence and their families.

Timbuktu, Mali

Improving daily access to water for children and their families

In Timbuktu, Mali, the Luxembourg Red Cross is conducting projects to promote access to water and hygiene. We build water points in schools and train children and their families in hygiene practices. We also conduct street sanitation activities.

« Now, with the water tower, we have water in quantity allowing us not only to drink at school but also to wash our hands whenever we want.»
testifies a pupil of the Alpha Saloum school, beneficiary of the project.

With your support, we can continue our efforts to improve the living conditions of families, provide a healthy environment for children at school and fight against the spread of diseases (COVID-19 or other).

Nepal

Supporting the most vulnerable populations

The people of Dhading district, Nepal, are among the most vulnerable in the country. They are highly exposed to natural disasters, lack of drinking water and poverty.

Our teams have developed an integrated program to help rebuild, prevent natural hazards, improve access to water and provide help to cover the basic needs of the most vulnerable families.

Your donation allows us to finance this program, and to adapt it to the crises of which the poorest are the first victims. For example, we can create an emergency fund to help families who have fallen into extreme poverty due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
