The Charity Kids Run is much more than just a race: it is an educational, sporting and solidarity-driven project that allows children to actively engage in helping others. It is also a true introduction to first aid awareness, teaching young participants the right reflexes to adopt in case of an emergency.
What is the Charity Kids Run exactly?
Designed for schools and childcare centres, this initiative transforms children’s energy into a powerful act of solidarity in support of the projects of the Luxembourg Red Cross. The concept is simple and motivating: learn basic first aid skills, then take part in a sponsored sports challenge to raise funds.
With the support of volunteers and first aid professionals, children are introduced to life-saving actions — such as knowing the European emergency number and how to react in urgent situations.
They are then invited to reach out to their families, friends and relatives to sponsor them for each lap or kilometre completed.
On the big day, everyone runs at their own pace and aims to complete as many laps as possible, in a festive and supportive atmosphere where individual effort becomes a collective achievement.
The funds raised help finance projects of the Luxembourg Red Cross that support children and young people — such as inclusive holiday camps that offer enriching stays for all children.

Beyond the sporting challenge, the Charity Kids Run is also a meaningful opportunity for learning and raising awareness about first aid and solidarity. Children discover that they too can take action and support humanitarian causes.

A song to easily remember the European emergency number
To extend this experience in a fun way, children are invited to listen to the song “Wann’s de Hëllef brauchs, da riffs de direkt un”, composed by our first aid trainer Nancy Wunsch and Becky Schiltz as part of the “Charity Kids Run” project. The song helps them memorize the European emergency number while having fun.
This song was recorded with the children from the Consdorf choir.
A creative way to combine solidarity, prevention, and education.
