Due to the wars in Burundi, over 500,000 people have fled the country. Returning to Burundi by choice or obligation, most refugees find themselves with no house or resources. The Luxembourg Red Cross helps the most vulnerable among them return to their land.

How is my donation used?

Support a family this year in the construction of their house! Located in Bugenyusi (Karusi province in the center of the country), an agricultural town marked by strong violence and large population displacement in the 1990s, the houses will be built by the beneficiaries themselves depending on their skills or by the local Red Cross society in Burundi.

By donating €480 one time or €40 monthly via standing order, you can fund the construction of a house for a Burundian family. If you wish to commit further, you can support this family in their economic development activities or their community in building a school or a house for another family.

Your donation will also help the rehabilitation of 50 water sources to increase access to safe water points for the population of the town of Muyinga.
